Industrialization was the period of time for a country were they transitioned from farming and agriculture to working in factories and inventing new things. In America the industrial revolution greatly impacted the life of thousands of Americans. It brought people from the farm into factories in order to mass produce products for the economy.

Although the rail road greatly impacted the US by allowing them to transport animals and products across the country, it hurt the Native Americans a great deal. The railroad helped the US expand the west, this caused Native Americans to be pushed off their land and caused their numbers to go down. The railroad also caused the Natives food source, the Buffalos, to almost disappear.

The Railroad was a huge help for the U.S. allowing for easier transportation across the country. The  raid road played a major part in helping expand the west.

1) a man would rise if he spied and told tales about his fellow workers
2) the plant owners main goal was to earn as much money as possible for himself
3) the quote meant that the owner of the plant did not worry very much about how the conditions for the workers were but instead they cared on how much money they made

The government regulates when you can hunt certain types of animals. It is enforced by giving tickets  or in some cases jail time when a person hunts out of season. Hunting tags are given over the counter or are drawn, these tell the hunter when and where they can hunt.

The Refrigerator

Before the fridge was invented not much could be done when you want to preserve or cool food. Many people put food and medicine in the snow and ice to attempt to cool it. Later on cellars were dug into the ground for cooling. These cellars were lined with wood and straw, which was packed with snow and ice.

The first known artificial attempt at a refrigerator came in 1748 at the University of Gaslow. The father of the Refrigerator was Oliver Evans. He invented the first vapor compressing fridge in 1805. Jacob Perkins modified Evans design in 1834, he built the worlds first fridge and filled the first legal patent for refrigeration using vapor-compression. In 1841 an American doctor by the name of John Gorrie invented the first mechanical fridge allowing for the making of ice and cooling of medicine for yellow fever patients. Later on in 1853, an American professor created a fridge that could produce a ton of ice per day.

The fridge was a major invention and without it today there would be a major problem. The fridge allowed for the cooling of food and medicine. It produced ice and allowed an owner to freeze foods to be consumed later.

Impact of the continental rail road

May 10th, 1869 the word quickly spread around the United States that the first transcontinental rail road had just been finished. On its first day of work the train launched out of California with of thousands of Asian products and a load of tea from Japan. It was now available for people to travel across the country in just a week. Products created on one side of the country can be at the other side in just a short week. For people the nation was far to big for a casual trip across the country, but now it was possible for a quick trip for a week over to the other side of the country.

Although not everyone loved the rail road as much. The Native Americans were not to thrilled when it was built. Some say the rail road sparked the was between the Native Americans and the U.S. The project forced Natives of their land and onto reservations.

Civil War Research

Gettysburg was a town in Pennsylvania where the largest deaths were recorded during the American Civil war, many even say this was the turning point of the war. The battle was fought July 1-3 in 1863 between the Union and the Confederates. Robert E. Lee lead the confederate into battle with the union lead by George Mead. George Mead ended up defeating Georges attacking ending Robert E. Lees advances north.

On the first day of battle the Union, anticipating the attack of the confederates, laid out defences on three different ridges around the outskirts of Gettysburg. Around 7:30 on July 1st both the armies met and it is said that the first shot was fired by a Union member by the name of Marcellus Jones. ( After the battle Marcellus Jones lived, and in 1888 he returned and marked the spot he fired the first shot). Although not everyone from each army fought that day it was a very large battle and many lives were lost.

After the battle the total lives lost totaled over 45,000 people. The union lost 23,000 and the confederates lost 28,000. The confederates ended up retreating and heading back south.
